It's interesting how you aged the characters of this cartoon--the older guy who may have been old enough to face the Selective Service draft of the Viet Nam era v. the younger guy who may have faced the poverty draft of more recent wars. My personal experience (being a member of the older group) is that the older guys are more opposed to wars than the younger guys who can even be MAGA people. I live in a rural conservative place where the people who show up to support peace are older (like the first guy) in general. The conservative stigma that is placed on old people is mostly undeserved.
